Wanted....North East businesses to support the 'Back on Track' campaign

A CAMPAIGN to bring over 1,000 jobs to the region is harnessing the power of the internet to secure support. The Back on Track campaign, launched by the Northern Echo and number of supporting partners such as Durham County Council and County Durham Development Company now has a facebook site, an online petition and a YouTube clip have been created to promote Back on Track campaign. To show your support for the project, please visit http://www.petition.co.uk/back-on-track Organisations can also show their support by emailing their logo to Residents and businesses can also show their support by the more traditional method of displaying the Back on Track poster in their window. The campaign aims to encourage the Government to award the InterCity Express Programme (IEP) contract to Hitachi. The Japanese company has indicated it would then build a factory in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, to make the trains.
